Happy New Year! I mean, happy February! Maybe you're like me and you had this idea that maybe things might slow down, get back to "normal" (I don't even know what that word means anymore) after the holidays. HAHAHAHA!
Well, that's not exactly how my year has been going. I've been busy doing what they call hustling and haven't slowed down. The only thing is my hustle is not so that I can get rich, make more money or even climb the corporate ladder. I've got a few different kinds of hustles going on. And so here's the update.
Some of you may or may not know that last April, I took a part-time contract position with Women of Welcome. I'm blessed to call myself an Ambassador and get the joy of engaging with women from all over the country who have a heart for immigrants and refugees and believe in the calling to love their neighbors. It's been an amazing gift to get to do this work and co-labor with so many other amazing women. It's also a huge reason why my blog has rested so empty, all my grand plans fell to the waste side with taking on that new role, but I definitely don't regret it. Not only do I get to do that work part-time, but I also took on a part-time role with my husband's organization (after firing myself from that job the prior year) in December. Call me crazy or maybe call me sane, I'm not sure which, but it's been fun so far getting to help him further his message to love and help others through permaculture. Go check out the School of Permaculture when you have a chance! And to add the icing on the cake, I'm teaching yoga once a week via zoom. That teaching time has been such a life-saver to me, and I pray also for the ladies who join me faithfully each week. In addition to teaching, last fall I made the decision to pursue my 500RYT training with Toni Farris at Yoga Tree Plano and Carson Ford at Balance Yoga + Barre. This training has allowed me to gain additional certifications in Beginners Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and then more as I continue my education. Yoga has brought so much encouragement to me and my body both pre and post-pregnancy. As a lifetime athlete and as I get older it's given me the strength and renewed my trust in the beauty of my body after all the changes it's endured. As a yoga instructor, my goal is to guide others to believe in the capabilities of their bodies again too. I love encouraging my students and guiding them in their yoga practice. My favorite is when I'm able to show them how to find comfort in their own bodies. It's a blessing to get to teach yoga. So, why am I sharing all of this? For a couple of reasons. One, my yoga journey and teaching has caused me to reevaluate the message and organization of this site. What originally started out as "just a blog site" has now morphed. Two, I now have a place to teach yoga classes and I couldn't be more excited about that as well. As you will see, I am now teaching classes and offering private yoga sessions at Mindful Journey Counseling & Wellness, PLLC. I'm so blessed by this new partnership and can't wait to introduce yoga as a tool for overall mindfulness and wellness to this community and theirs. I hope if you joined me for the blogging you'll stick around. And, I hope that if you are here for the yoga, you'll stay too. And who knows what the future holds, I just know that as I learn and grow, I pray I'll be A Wiser Me and offer you a chance to be a part of A Wiser We! Love,
Kristi
